The wines of Sancerre are widely considered to be the finest expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape type in the world. The wines of Chavignol (the most prestigious village within the appellation of Sancerre, and the site of all of Serge Laporte's vineyards) are distinctive and of a notably higher caliber, to the extent that they are sometimes referred to as "crus" despite the fact that Sancerre has no such official classifications, unlike Burgundy or Bordeaux. The punishingly steep slopes of Les Monts Damns ("the damned mountains" so named by the harvesters who have to trudge up and down them) boast the finest vineyard sites in Chavignol. Many of the grapes that go into this Laporte Sancerre come from Les Monts Damns vineyards.

This is a wine with lively, mouth watering acidity. It is fresh and bright, boasting citrus and white fruits on the palate with an aromatic nose and a pronounced and lingering minerality on the finish that sets it apart. It is long on finesse and refreshment really everything Sancerre can be.

TASTING NOTES: Serge Laportes Sancerre has a lot of substance, is very round and has enamel. The sauvignon typical green notes are relatively discreet; in the foreground are the aromas of citrus, white flowers and herbs. The wine is an accompaniment to fresh goat cheese, oysters and fish dishes.
