RATINGS: 90pts Robert Parker; 90pts Decanter

Led by a passion for authenticity and a deep connection to the land they call home, the Hedges Family epitomizes the modern wine estate. A blend of rich cultural upbringings and a shared love for creating beautiful wine converge at the heart of bucolic Red Mountain, fostering a true homegrown approach to farming and viticulture. Hedges Family Estate unites past and present, evolving tradition for generations to come.

Flagship wine of the estate, the HFE Red Mountain consistently displays dense color, firm tannins, and well-defined acidity. Always a majority blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this wine is suitable for drinking upon release, but will reward those with the patience to age it. This wine represents all vineyard blocks farmed within the Hedges Family Estate vineyard portfolio. A true chateau-production bottling, the HFE Red Mountain is the epitome of classic style, and one that represents the Terroir of the Red Mountain AVA in a pure and elegant form.

Tasting Notes: Wine Advocate 90 points - Graphite, leather, wild herbs and ample red and black currant notes emerge from the 2013 Red Mountain Red Blend, which is made from 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Syrah. With medium-bodied richness, nicely integrated acidity, lots of character and a good finish, drink it over the coming 4-6 years. Thereƒ??s a touch of brettanomyces here, and I suspect it wonƒ??t be for everyone, but I like it..June/2017

Decanter 90 points - From 100% estate fruit, this Bordeaux influenced blend was aged in a mixture of new and old French and American oak for 12 months. The result is a charming, complex red with a thyme and wild herb nose and nicely weighted cool blackberry and blueberry fruit on the palate. There are grippy tannins that provide structure and a soft black pepper finish. Drinking Window 2017 - 2024.March/2017
